From Pain To Wellness may provide certain services through telehealth when clinically appropriate. Telehealth allows a patient and provider to communicate using electronic audio and/or video technology while located in different places.
What to expect
- Your provider may confirm your identity and current physical location at the beginning of the visit.
- You may be asked to confirm a telephone number or emergency contact that can be used if the connection fails or an urgent situation occurs.
- Not every service or clinical situation is appropriate for telehealth. Your provider may recommend an in-person evaluation when needed.
- Telehealth may involve limitations compared with an in-person examination, including technology failures, reduced ability to perform a physical examination, or privacy risks associated with electronic communication.
- FPTW uses reasonable safeguards and approved technology for telehealth services. Patients should participate from a private location and use a secure connection when possible.
- Do not record a telehealth visit unless all participants have expressly agreed and recording is permitted by applicable law and practice policy.
- Telehealth is not appropriate for a medical emergency. Call 911 or seek emergency care for an emergency.
Consent
Before or as part of receiving telehealth services, FPTW may obtain and document your consent in accordance with applicable law and practice policy. You may ask questions about telehealth before proceeding. Your provider may discontinue telehealth and recommend another method of care if telehealth is not clinically appropriate or cannot be provided safely.
Privacy
Medical information created or received during telehealth is handled under the same privacy framework described in our Notice of Privacy Practices, subject to any additional protections required by law.
